Camping in spring with friends .

I feel that I talked about wide rivers, never ending forests, white peak mountains so many times already but everytime I see it I feel super happy. I always wanted to share my love to Canada with my family and friends. Photos look spectacular but it's nothing compared with getting experience yourself. I can't express how happy I was when I got an email from Morta saying that she and Andrius will come to visit me in Vancouver. Wow wow wow!! Finally :)) That's when I made a plan to organize a camping trip for them. I picked Golden Ears Provincial Park because camping sites were already open and it had lots of hikes around. It's located close to mountains and river (Yasss!). Sounds perfect! We did this trip in the middle of April so spring was about to begin, wasn't that hot. For me it was the best weather to do hikes :) We got an extra blanket for the night, but eh we all live in cities now ;)

Our first day we set up our camp site and made some Korean style food. Went for a short walk next to the river. The most amazing part for me was to believe that my friends are here and they see the same beautiness that I always try to capture and post on my blog. We sat silently looking to these gorgeous mountains and just enjoying the moment.

Some firewood and self-made chairs :)) I love how creative you get in nature! We also had a huge tarp above our campsite, because forecast promised some rain. Better be ready.

I've never camped in Golden Ears before, but the forest is soooo pretty. Super mossy with huge trees and campsites are not too close to one another so you can have some privacy.

Who knew that brussel sprouts tastes way much better when you're camping? :) This was our killer dish!! So delicious :))

Youn and I had this one dish when we camped in states and when we think about camping trip we both instantly know this will be our breakfast dish for sure! I will tell you what we do ;) We bake bacon strips, add some eggs (mixed with couple drops of milk). Don't forget to season eggs, then we chopp some cherry tomatoes, add parsley/green onion and wrap everything in warm corn tortilla. This one is the key! Let's not forget good pickles or olives and voilà! Super duper easy and satisfies everyone ;} Try it out next time you will go camping!

Madeleine and Alex joined us. I think in this photo I was about to say something so my face looks ridiculous, but everyone else looks super cool, because campers are cool in Canada ;)

When you see mountains for the first time you have to perform some pagan dances according to Lithuanian traditions. True story!

Ahh,,,, again water, forests, mountains, some left over snow, clouds, probably an eagle somewhere,,,, Could it be more perfect? :)

I might be missing some parts of this camping trip, but this is how I remember it! We also had more people who came in and stayed for a night, we had marshmallows on a stick, guitars and songs next to the fire. Talking about sticks our secret word was 'wet stick' that Jenny came up with :) I want to say thank you and what a wonderful hike/camp/outdoor time opening we had!

Now it's time to go out and have fun :)

Tribute to food .

While being in Korea I ate so much gooooood food that is hard to believe. Everytime we would go somewhere we would buy a snack from street vendors. All I heard - did you try? Try this or try that, You MUST have that.... My belly was never dissapointed! My favourite dish became home made Pallock soup that now I make myself back in Vancouver :) Take a look at some of these food photos and go get some Korean dish! :)

Visiting Budha .

One of our last trips in Korea was a visit to Aileen's hometown which is very near N. Korea. On our way there we did stop for a small hike and saw a beautiful Budha temple, including Budha's statue.

DMZ was created right after WWII when Soviet Union and United States made a boundary between their administration zone. This was one of the most intense front in an era of Cold War. There are numerous incidents where both sides lost there soldiers. S. Korea has discovered four tunnels so far that goes underneath DMZ. 2004 was the last year both sides stoped broadcasting their messages via loudspeakers located in DMZ. Lots of crazy things happened but it's sad to realize how many families were affected by this separation. With no knowledge what happened to their relatives/friends etc.

Everyday heroes .

These photos is a collection of different markets around Seoul. Long streets filled with locals selling products. Every corner in the market has it's own look, smell and feeling. It's hard to describe because we all have different senses. One can be effected by sound more then by smell. Visiting markets like these shows more of a casual face of city. No make up just every day heroes :)

I love hiking! Especially going up the mountain and finding a place where view opens to you. I let my fantasy run further: I imagine how this looked 50years or even a century ago. You can easily tell who are serious hikers and who are lost souls spending couple free hours in nature. I bet we looked like the last one because all the hikers we met were older people carying water bottles, using sticks and wearing proper outfit.
