Rainy evening in Prince Rupert .

December 5, 2019

As we were promised by people whom we met on the road, Prince Rupert gave us a nice shower. Despite that we got some delicious Pho at a local restaurant and (!!) a visit at a local thrift store payed with a nice warm sweater for Youn :) So not too bad after all. We chit chatted with owners of that store and they we’ve been living in Prince Rupert for awhile now. They told us some stories about city and why sometimes they have so many Koreans coming for a vacay :)

Next morning we had an early ferry ride to Port Hardy. The weather was quite harsh, strong wind and same rain. Luckily it didn’t affect our ride and ferry left Prince Rupert as scheduled. We arrived in a dark to Port Hardy, luckily we got out of ferry first (motorcycle advantage ;) ) because few mins later all car drivers showed up at the same hotel and had to wait in line, meanwhile we were enjoying hot shower.

Ride to Nanaimo was beautiful! We took a hwy19A and were blessed by views! It’s like driving on Sunshine Coast, but for a longer distance and you can enjoy openness and beautiness by a lifestyle there. If you will ever end up there think of choosing hwy19A :)

Getting closer to Prince Rupert .

November 29, 2019

I remember this hwy 16 part as most challenging due to rain, that never stopped. We saw so many beautiful places along the way. The yellow raincoats helped to keep our spirits up :)

Entering hwy 16 .

November 26, 2019

Everything changed when we entered hwy 16. I believe it is well known among local people as it gives quite amazing views! It did feel like we are riding through Rockies, but more with an open scenery. This day we didn’t get much of a rain, but we could see rain clouds going all over the place :)

We were quite exhausted after this long ride and we end up booking a hotel room, because forecast said rain during the night. If you camp or have an experience how tricky and annoying is to pack a wet tent you will be nodding your head and saying ‘smart’ :) I don’t think I have any photos, but we treated ourselves with a nice dinner in a local Japanese restaurant and surprisingly it was quite delicious :)

Before rain started .

November 25, 2019

Yes, this was one of the last days before the rain caught us on the road. We visited Barkerville - a historic town for Gold Rush days back in the past. The city was named after B.Barker who first struck gold in this location in mid XIX century. He found over 1000kg of gold and the news spread quickly and the town was build quickly as well. Today it’s a historic park and town, were you can try gold panning, walk around the streets, attend some shows and walking tours and even go on some trails around the city.

The most exciting part for us was to find a photography studio and by a miracle take an open spot to get an old school photo of us :) Remember the one we did in Korea? Us wearing hanbook :) Scroll down to see whom we were in a Cariboo Gold Rush days :)
